Home ❯ Attendance

Attendance

We expect children to have attendance of 95% or better, our aim is to achieve an “Outstanding” level of attendance – 97%.  Your child should be in school every day unless he or she is unwell.

If your child is absent for any reason, please inform the school via email attendance@rhodesavenue.org.uk or by calling the school and selecting the absence line option. Please do this by 9:30AM at the latest.  Unexplained absences will be queried.

Time Off During Term Time

Appointments

Please note that whenever possible medical and dental appointments should be booked outside school hours. Children should return to school promptly after appointments and be signed out and in at the reception desk. Please inform the school via email attendance@rhodesavenue.org.uk with proof of appointment. You do not need to fill in the absence request form for medical appointments or official appointments.

Holidays/Other absences

Please note the Head Teacher may not authorise absence in term time except in exceptional circumstances. Please complete a Leave of Absence Request Form for all term-time absences.

When considering a Request for Leave of Absence, the Head Teacher will take the following into account: the effect the absence will have on the child’s education and ability to achieve; the overall pattern of attendance and punctuality; the age of the child; the child’s stage of education; the time of year (SATs or assessments); and the particular family circumstances.

Reception have been learning about our whole school Zones of Regulation. They have been practising using the zones to process emotions in a healthy way and to help them regulate themselves.

Year 4 created positive affirmations using WordArt styles to continue spreading our whole school's 'Troll' core text's message. They also reported on the troll's change of behaviour towards himself and others.

'Uniquely Troll, Uniquely Me' is Year 6's display inspired by Frances Stickley's 'Troll' capturing the moment the character finally learns to appreciate his beauty. Their artwork is a celebration of their own individual strengths and inner confidence.
