What is Rhodes Avenue PSA?

Rhodes Avenue Primary School Association (RAPSA) is a registered charity raising funds for Rhodes Avenue Primary School.

The PSA plays an important role in engaging and supporting the Rhodes Avenue Primary School Community.

The PSA organises events and fundraisers like school fairs, cake sales, jumblesales, and social evenings. The aim of these events is to bring the school community together whilst raising much needed funds for the school.

The social function of the PSA is particularly important for the induction of new parents and carers to the school at nursery and reception level. PSA events provide fun opportunities for you to get to know your class parents and the wider school community. PSA school events help many families at Rhodes create lasting friendships that go on long after your children’s primary school years.

By joining the PSA Committee, being a PSA Class Rep or volunteering ad hoc you have the opportunity to be at the centre of the school community while supporting the school.

The PSA’s Aims

Our aims are to:

Support the integration of new parents into the school community through social events and parent networks;
Raise funds for the school;
Plan school community events for adults and children to enjoy and that contribute towards community cohesion.

Working with the School

Rhodes Avenue PSA supports the school at social events and also through its fundraising.

Annually the PSA offers financial help for school trips and additional resources not covered by the school budget.

We also fund larger long-term school projects, such as playground improvements, computer hardware, vegetable growing area, kitchen units and portable hobs for DT, reading corners, the outdoor pods and forest school hut.

The PSA is currently raising money for:

Sheltered whole class teaching space in the Spinney
Junior Playground Upgrade: Artificial grass for the caged area, new benches for improved seating and safe spaces for wellbeing
EYFS bicycle trail (wet pour) – resurfacing of ground for younger children
Annual Travel Subsidy Fund to cover the cost of coaches for residential trips and make these trips more affordable for all parents from 2025-26
Flexible funding to use where the need is greatest

The decision on how to spend PSA funds is made by the Headship Team in agreement with the PSA Trustees. Annual spending reports and future priorities for spending are shared with parents at the October AGM.

The Committees

The Committee comprises volunteer parents and guardians from across the school who have agreed to give up their time to help organise social events and fundraising activities. We try our best to deliver well organised fun events whilst raising funds for the school too! It can take up a lot of personal time whilst juggling our own jobs, lives and families so please be kind to us!
