SESSIONS FOR PARENTS (held in autumn 2023)
We have held sessions for parents on:
Session 1 – Talking to your child about racism
This session explored racial literacy, focusing on language and strategies for talking to your children about issues of race and racism.
Session 2 – Diversity and Empowerment
This session considered diversity, inclusion and belonging at home. In the session, time was spent looking at books, activities and tips that can be used to empower children to love themselves and value others.

- National Literacy Trust has published book lists for children and young people of all ages to share black stories and promote black voices.
- National Geographic have published a great article called ‘Talking to kids about race’ which helps parents have an initial discussion with their children about empathy and compassion.
