I had the privilege of working with Adrian at Churchfield Primary school. He was truly an inspiration and made everyone around him better. His passion for fairness, equality and education for all was unmatched and I will forever be a better teacher because of him. Adrian was the kind of person who left an imprint on every life he touched and the world is a darker place without him. My deepest condolences to the family.
So sad to hear of your passing. You were truly a great phase leader, deputy head teacher and head teacher at Churchfield Primary School. You were an inspiration to the children, families and staff. An outstanding person.
My prayers and thoughts are with Daniel, Jayden and Adrian’s family.
The saddest and hardest news to hear. One of the kindest and most brilliant leaders I’ve met. He has guided and led both my kids for the past 6 years and they are better for it. His dedication to the school has been incredible and he leaves a gaping hole. So grateful for all he did. Sending strength to his family and loved ones.
Adrian, there is so much I’d like to say but I simply cannot find the words to say them.
All children deserve parents as loving, dedicated and supportive as you and Daniel. I wish I’d had the chance to tell you but Jaiden’s compassionate, confident and caring nature is testament to this.
I will do everything I can to support Jaiden and Daniel through this incredibly difficult time and I will keep you in my thoughts always.
You will be dearly missed by us all.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Adrian’s passing. I had the privilege of beginning my teacher training journey at Rhodes Avenue and Adrian made me feel incredibly welcome from the moment I arrived. It was an honour to know Adrian and I thank him for his kindness and support during my time at Rhodes Avenue. My prayers and thoughts are with Adrian’s family and everyone at Rhodes Avenue at this extremely difficult time.
Adrian was a great man he had a thing about being fair and that was good he would always have a great smile when ever you see him. Adrian was a wonderful headteacher.
Mia backlund (Year 4)
Adrian’s dedication to the school and the students was incredibly tangible. As parents of students we are forever grateful for what he gave.
I was deeply shocked to hear this morning of the unbelievable news of Adrian’s death. I worked at Churchfield Primary school when Adrian first arrived as a Year 6 teacher. He then became Deputy Head and Headteacher. He was an absolute breath of fresh air from the moment he arrived. He was so charismatic, he had presence and abundant energy. He was inspirational and invested so much time in both the personal and educational needs of the children. He was what Education needs today, a rare Leader with integrity. My thoughts are with his entire family. It is an extremely sad day for all that knew and had the privilege of working with him.
I was privileged to know Adrian over nearly two decades, first as a colleague at Churchfield and then as a grandparent volunteer at Rhodes Avenue. I am shocked and saddened to learn of his sudden death at such a young age and will always remember his warmth, generosity and supportiveness to me personally, to all his colleagues and most of all to the children and parents. He was totally dedicated to giving every child the environment in which to thrive, reach their full potential and have fun. My deepest sympathy to Daniel and Jaiden, and to Adrian’s mother and wider family.
We are devastated to hear of the death of Adrian an inspirational educator and a man of deep and profound kindness and generosity . He had time for all pupils and parents an unfailing belief in treating everybody fairly and demonstrated this to the pupils with every decision he made. We are so grateful to have had our boys educated under his guidance and our thoughts and prayers are with his family ,friends and colleagues .at this terrible time .
As an ex Rhodes pupil, the news of Mr Hall’s passing has been very upsetting. He was a down to earth, relatable and a head with good morals. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Adrian’s death is shocking, he was far too young. As a Head he was deeply charismatic, energetic and powerful. He invested a huge amount of himself into Rhodes, he was incredible during covid, before and after it. We were privileged to experience a Headteacher like him.
The loss of Adrian is a loss to us all at Rhodes.
Adrian, I admired your leadership, commitment to ED&I, your sense of fun and the joy you shared with us all. You created glue for us. You created community for us.
Our son Julian and daughter Sophia lit up with happiness when they mentioned an interaction with you. Julian said you gave him a headteacher award sticker last week just for him saying please and thank you at lunch. It is these small precious moments which touch lives and shape futures. Thank you.
With heartfelt condolences to Daniel, Jaiden and Adrian’s mother and family.
Rebecca Lazell
It’s hard to comprehend this news – what a sad loss to education and the community.
I will always think of Adrian fondly. He was truly a fantastic head teacher and it is hard to find headteachers, who match his dedication, enthusiasm and love for learning. I will always be indebted to him for offering me my first teaching position and for guiding me to become the teacher and leader I am today.
My thoughts are with Adrian’s family and colleagues. Adrian, you will certainly be missed and thought of with fondness and respect.
We are deeply sad and shocked to hear of the death of Adrian. He was so well loved and respected within the Rhodes Community and beyond. I have always felt incredibly grateful to have him as headteacher for our boys and I am so thankful for everything he has done for us all. He was a truly inspirational person who touched the hearts of so many. We will dearly miss him. Our thoughts are with his family at this unbearably difficult time.
Dear Adrian
You were there for my son Lucas in 2019, when I couldn’t be.
I will forever be grateful for this, and for all you have done for Julia, Lucas and the whole Rhodes Avenue School community. You leave behind an incredible personal legacy.
Rest In Peace
Damian
(Father of Julia (2010 – 2018), and Lucas (2014 – 2022))
It’s with heavy hearts we write this, Adrian was a fantastic head teacher and such a lovely guy , both my boys loved Rhodes Avenue and flourished under his leadership, our thoughts are with his Husband, son and Mother this is just the most heartbreaking news.
I sat with him in his office only days ago. So grateful to have had that last moment with him. He was so warm, caring with such kindness towards all three of my children on so many occasions. Going out of his way to make sure he supported them in any way he could. He was much loved by all three of my children, who are so so sad. My youngest said “as long as i get to see him again”. That longing I share. A charasmatic, big wonderful bear of a father figure to kids and adults alike! I’ll miss you Adrian. Thank you for everything. Sending so much love and prayers to your family x
I am shocked and saddened deeply by the sad news. Adrian was a great head and he shall truly be missed! Rhodes Avenue will have a deep dark hole without him!
There are not enough words to express the sadness and shock of this moment. He will be greatly missed by all of us. He has been there for us from day one, during these six years, to help with anything we needed. The day we visited the school and talked to him, we thought it was the right one. Our son became a big fan of the school, and that says it all. I remember sometimes he would pass by on his car, driving back home, and he would bip at us to say hello. He will be remembered for being a great headteacher, but about all for being a lovely person. My thoughts are with all his family and friends in this difficult time, especially with his husband and son.
I had the privilege of working with Adrian at Church field Primary School and watched him progress into an amazing Headteacher. He had the ability to make everyone feel valued and his passion for teaching and education was of such a high standard and this was reflected in the way he lead the school. He gave me the opportunity to progress in my job and for that I am forever grateful.
Reading all the heartfelt tributes colleagues and friends have written is testament to such an honourable man.
My thoughts and condolences are with his family.
It’s with deep pain I write this comment which I didn’t think I’d ever have to do. Mr Hall was my headteacher for all my primary school years at Churchfield he was the best teacher ever, so caring wanting the best for everyone. A very supportive man and really cared for those around him, I wish I could’ve seen him one last time all grown up but I just know he’s in a better place now. My sincere apologies to his family and friends.
RIP Mr Hall, We love you
Adrian has been so lovely to me during my final placement just months ago. I am deeply saddened by his death and my prayers are with his family. He has been so welcoming, warm and supportive during my journey and he leaves with me a thank you card that I will always look at to remember him. He was not only a great headteacher but also a positive person who gave great energy to people around him. My training journey would have never been the same without Adrian and I will always remember his kindness and big bold smile. May he rest in peace??
Im a year 8 at APS and some of my best memories where made at Rhodes. Mr Hall made the school what it is today. He was an amazing part of so many children’s lives, including mine. He helped me be the person i am today and he will forever be missed by every single Rhodes kid.
RIP Mr Hall. You were a great head teacher, and an even better person.
My thoughts and condolences are with Adrian and his family at this incredibly difficult time . Adrian had such a warmth about him that made everyone he spoke to feel valued and reassured. I had the pleasure of working with him at Churchfield Primary. He was an inspirational leader whose passion for education and dedication to the children, families and staff will forever be in our hearts . He has touched so many peoples lives and it is with a heavy heart that I write this . Rest in peace Adrian x
A devastating loss to his family, friends and Rhodes Avenue. In 20 years of working in schools, I’ve never met a more driven, talented and caring person. Adrian would get every last drop out of every day in improving children’s learning and wellbeing.
He was a champion of the work we did in school and the wider community. His support, ideas and kind words were always a strength to me and my team. 44 is too young for someone who had so much more to give.
We also had so much more to learn from this truly great man.
Mr.Hall was a great leader. Now that he is gone Rhodes Avenue will never feel the same and I will never feel the same.He was Rhodes Avenue and he always made Rhodes Avenue a better place in general.
Adrian was an amazing teacher whenever you walked past him in the hallway he would wave , smile and say hello. He was always in a very cheerful mood I wouldn’t of wanted any other head teacher.
My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him. May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
Adrian was such a bright, guiding light in all our lives, and he wanted every child to shine too. My admiration for him is immeasurable; his integrity and kindness palpable with every interaction, be it in conversation, email or Zoom assembly during lockdown. He was an incredible role model for all of us. We were so privileged that Sebastian and Isaac had Adrian as their headteacher for the last 6+ years. Words cannot express our sense of loss as a school family, but most of all we send our love and condolences to Daniel, Jaiden, Cynthia, the wider family, and all staff at Rhodes Avenue.
I have worked with Adrian for the past 3 years and i am absolutely gutted to hear this news! I know how much he loved the school and the children and he was so passionate about the education in Rhodes Avenue! I am sending all our love and condolences to Adrians family, the children, and all the staff! Sam and all the team at Aquinas Education xx
I had the privilege of working with Adrian at Churchfield. Adrian was an energetic and dedicated headteacher.
It’s such a devastating loss.
My thoughts and condolences are with his family at this difficult time.
We are absolutely heartbroken to hear about the passing of Adrian, our beloved head teacher at Rhodes Avenue Primary School.
Please accept our most heartfelt condolences on this tremendous loss.
Adrian was more than just a head teacher to us; he was a mentor, a role model, and a friend. We will always remember the kindness, wisdom, and compassion that Adrian shared with us every day and always seeing him smiling at us in the corridors.
Our prayers and thoughts are with Daniel, Jayden, and Adrian’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We know that the loss of someone so special is never easy, and we hope that the memories of Adrian and his extraordinary contributions to Rhodes Avenue Primary School provide comfort and solace in the days and weeks ahead.
Adrian, you will be deeply missed, but you will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything you did for us and for the Rhodes Avenue community.
With sincere sympathy,
Jensen POH (6NM) & Zoe POH (4JB)
Deeply sad and shocked to hear of the death of Adrian, a devastating loss to his family, friends and Rhodes Avenue.
With heartfelt condolences to Daniel, Jaiden and Adrian’s family.
We are devastated at the loss of Adrian – for his family, and for the school and community. Our two children were both at Rhodes Avenue when he arrived and we were all immediately impressed by his calm, fairness and humour (and how the teachers and children seemed so happy he was there). He always smiled at you, and we always felt he knew us and knew our kids, and that he was there steering the school – doing a tough job extremely well. He was supportive at every level: taking me aside to talk to me when one of our children had an issue, holding my daughter’s music up when her music stand malfunctioned during a concert, or when she went to see him at breaktime… his door was always open. And a kazoo virtuoso, of course. I’ll always remember his lovely words at concerts and plays, reminding us to appreciate the magic of our children’s early years. We will always remember him so fondly for the part he played in that.
Adrian you made my sometimes shy boy feel noticed and happy, secure that he belonged and was valued. I saw you greet kids who must have left years back come through the gate from APS to get their younger siblings and you knew their names, you knew to ask how their football was going. That sense of continuity and belonging is so valuable and I imagine increasingly rare, especially in London. You were such a beacon of the old school values of public service and community. Thank you so so much and sending all the love in the world to your family x
Sadly, one of the most caring, thoughtful, helpful , organized person passed away from this world. He touched so many children’s life. I had always been felt so lucky to have you in Churchfield as a parent and member of staff. We all respected and loved you very much.
Thank you for being a great person Adrian. R.I.P.
My deepest condescended to his family.
I just found out this devastating news and wish to convey my deep sense of shock and sadness. I only encountered Adrian as an occasional supply teacher at Rhodes over the past six years,
yet he made a strong, positive impression from the first time I worked there: greeting me by name (rare for a mere supply) and checking I had everything I needed. Some headteachers seem to hide in their office, but whenever I was at Rhodes I noticed his gentle presence around the place: recently, for example, calmly informing a group of staff about the latest on strep A and playing chess with children at lunchtime. It is a mark of the man that he made such a strong, positive impression on someone who barely knew him. What a loss. Adrian was a great headteacher and a truly wonderful man.
My daughter Emily, was a teacher at Rhodes until recently. We would always turn up for the concerts and fairs and we’re always given the most wonderful welcome by Adrian. He would stand by the door welcoming us all in with a big and warm presence. His death is an unimaginable shock . Thankyou Adrian for being a great colleague for my daughter and always welcoming us oldies!
So sad and shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Adrian. Such a devastating blow to the school and community at large. In the time I knew him, he always greeted us warmly and knew all the children so well. He had the ability to connect and support so easily. Our son delighted in knowing him. Our deepest condolences to his family. RIP Adrian.
I’m writing this with a heavy heart, Mr Hall was not only just a Head teacher he was also and exceptional role model.
I have so many good memories with him at Churchfield, he use to say “smiley face” before we walked in the front gates, he always wanted us to be happy, it was hard not to be when in his presence.
I remember every time he use to walk into the classroom, the whole class would run over to him, hugging him, not only did he help me academicly, however he made me become a better person with his advice.
I really just want to thank him for being a large part of my earlier life, Rest in peace Adrian Hall, You’ll be remembered by Thousands of students including myself for the rest of our lives.
Thank you Sir
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Adrian’s death. I started my teacher career at Churchfield Primary and Adrian was deputy at the time. I will always remember how cool, calm and collected he was (not to mention well dressed) and how much the children and staff respected him as a leader and an educator. I am thinking of his family at this hugely sad time and know his legacy as head teacher at Rhodes Avenue will life on.
Adrian, you really were one in a million!
An exceptional teacher and leader with a great sense of humour too!
I have known you since working at Churchfeild Primary school. Your displays were incredible and your passion for teaching really stood out! Every child really mattered!!! You always showed such generosity in giving your time helping other leaders. Adrian, you will be very missed. RIP, your legacy will live on! Deepest condolences to your beloved family.
I was very fortunate to have my final teacher training at Rhodes Avenue and had the absolute honour of meeting the wonderful Adrian. His positive energy and supportiveness was so well reflected onto the school and its surrounding environment. I am utterly disheartened upon hearing his passing and pass my condolences onto his beloved family. Thank you Adrian for all your support, you had a huge impact on my final placement and when it came to an end I couldn’t wait to one day work at your school. Adrian’s contagious smile and welcoming attitude will always stay with me moving forward in my teaching career. ??
I was lucky enough to work with Adrian at Churchfield Primary. He always helped people be the best that he could be.
My thoughts are with everyone who loved him. The world has lost a gem of a man.
Dear everyone at rhodes avenue, we will all miss Adrian so much. I just want to say a few things about Adrian. Whenever I saw him, he always made me smile. He was a kind and loving headteacher and we will never forget him. I feel very sorry for his family. We all know deep in our hearts that he was always there for us.
Mr Hall was the deputy head when myself and my brothers went to Churchfield. He was the kindest, loveliest man and I am truly heartbroken to see such awful news. My thoughts are with his family, may he rest in peace
We are devastated and shocked to hear of the death of Adrian Hall, a wonderful man, an inspirational educator and a man of exceptional kindness and generosity. He had time for all pupils and parents plus an unfailing belief in treating everyone with patience, providing support and engaging you with a wonderful smile. He was so helpful to my two boys while at Rhodes, particularly when sensitive issues arose, and I know this was echoed by other families, as truly for Adrian, every child mattered. He went above and beyond. My deepest condolences to Daniel, Jaiden and family, my thoughts are with you at this terrible time.
So sad to hear about the passing of Adrian Hall. I had the pleasure of working with him when I was a teacher at Churchfield Primary School. He was a great leader who always put the needs of the children first. His humour and warmth really did bring the staff together. I’ll never forget his attention to detail and his amazing displays. He is a huge loss. My sincerest condolences go out to his family.
Was so shocked to hear the sad news of Adrian Halls passing, worked with him while I was at churchfield . Such a lovely, warm , friendly and caring man .
My condolences go to all he’s family and friends he will be dearly missed such a inspiration to many. Rest in peace.
It has been amazing to read all the comments above which clearly show the love and respect Adrian had from colleagues, parents and children. The constant theme of fairness, patience, kindness and warmth rings loud and clear…… now it is my turn to write and I echo it all. We started Rhodes the year he did and all 3 of my children have been lucky to be in a school with such an understanding, forward thinking and inclusive head teacher. Adrian was so ambitious for Rhodes and never rested on the laurels of its reputation- always seeking new and innovative ways to improve the school and the lives of its community. He had so much more to give- such a huge loss.
Sending all my love and light to Daniel, Jayden and all of Adrian’s family, friends and loved ones x
I was absolutely devastated to hear this cruel and untimely news. Adrian was a warm and caring presence at Rhodes Avenue and it’s clear how loved and appreciated he was by staff, parents and children alike. My thoughts and love go out to his family and friends. x
Extremely saddened to hear this tragic news. Our thoughts to his family, and friends and the school community. An outstanding individual, citizen and contributor to our community and our children’s education. May you be carried into the Light shine and continue smiling dear Adrian. Rest in eternal peace
I was so shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news about Adrian.
If the brief time that I knew him he gave me a lot of support/advice regarding some EY building development work for my school. He was patient, always positive and very cheerful.
Thank you Adrian for always taking my calls and answering my endless questions and all your funny comments! It really was a pleasure and privilege to know you.
My very best wishes to his family and the school community, at this very difficult time.
On behalf of the Muswell Hill Primary School community, we wanted to share our deepest condolences with Adrian’s family and everyone at Rhodes Avenue. Many of us have heard over the years what an inspirational leader he has been, and an exceptional advocate for children across Haringey. We have no doubt that Adrian’s legacy will continue to inspire many young people for years to come. Our thoughts and love are with you all x
A devastating loss for us all. Such an amazing and inspirational leader who helped us all maintain a sense of hope through the bleak and scary early days of Covid and who also did so much to bring the BLM agenda to the fore. But also such a warm and caring person who always had time for each and every one of us as individual families. What a special and wonderful person. My heart goes out to you Daniel, Jaiden and Cynthia.
Rhodes Ave parent
So very sad to hear of Adrian’s sudden passing , what a brilliant headteacher, person and human being, your compassion was huge You guided my daughter through all of junior school and she thought you were just WONDERFUL!
We shared the commonality of both being adoptive parents and often talked and supported each other.
You will be truly missed by the entire community of Rhodes Avenue and beyond.
Deepest sympathies to Daniel , jaiden and all your family & friends.
Amazing, compassionate person.
Fun too.
Taken too soon
Thanks for everything
Jules Standen
I am incredibly saddened and shocked by the news of Adrian’s untimely passing. How luck we were to have you as my daughters headmaster.
What always struck me was how genuine you were, you really cared about the children (and parents) and on several occasions made a real impression on me.
My daughter was delighted when you said “good morning Ivy” on our way into school, “look there’s Mr Hall!”
Deepest condolences to Adrian’s family and friends.
Adrian, you were the most passionate, committed and compassionate leader. During the time I was at Churchfield, I had the honour of learning from you what true leadership was. You made such a huge impact on the lives of so many children and adults alike and changed so many lives for the better. You will truly be missed and the world will be a little dimmer without you here. Deepest sympathies to Jaiden, Daniel and Cynthia.
Fond memories of Adrian, the brightest star of The Field Federation during challenging times.
To his beloved family and friends, much love and strength to endure.
I am lost for words at this shocking and unbelievable news. I can’t imagine the world without you in it. I will always have so much respect for you, the best teacher I have ever known and I am so lucky to have worked with you. So many thoughts and prayers for your dear family.
l can only echo what so many others have already said about Adrian and l am numb with shock and disbelief that such a thing could happen to someone who had so much more to give and who, at such a young age, had already built such an outstanding reputation and had touched the lives of so many people.
l knew Adrian from the time he joined Churchfield as a Year 6 teacher until he left to take up his Headship at Rhodes Ave. l can honestly say that the children were at the heart of everything he did. He knew each and everyone of them, their likes and dislikes and what they needed to inspire them to learn. He made them feel valued and important and always dealt with them fairly, calmy and with empathy.
The world has lost a truly great educator and all his former pupils and staff are better people for having had him as their role model.
l am so very sad at the unfairness of life and my heart goes out to all those closest to him, who loved him and needed him to stay in their lives. l send them my sincerest condolences.
Finding it difficult to write everything we want to say about Adrian because it is something we never expected to have to do. We are completely devastated…..
Since hearing about his untimely passing, we’ve reflected on every interaction we’ve had with him and remember saying to each other every time, how lucky we were to have had him as a Head Teacher. His leadership, kindness, calmness and care for his students, teachers and the broader community was apparent in everything he did. We could see the genuine respect and care his staff had for Adrian. He was there for our son Seb whenever he needed him from the very first day of school.
Our deepest condolences for his family Daniel, Jaiden and mum Cynthia , extended family and the school staff at Rhodes Avenue Primary. Adrian leaves an indelible mark in everyone who met him and we are truly blessed for having had the privilege of knowing him. May you rest in peace Adrian. Thank you for everything. X
Mr Hall was a wonderful, kind man. He will leave a huge legacy – all the children who came under his care, who will remember him fondly all their lives: Our children included. And as parents, we felt that same level of care and compassion extended to us too. We were lucky to have met him. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family at this time. The England Family.
Adrian, we will miss your smile and warm greeting every morning, your calm reassuring presence. We were always in the best hands. You steered your Rhodes ship seamlessly, especially through covid. You got it all so right. Your compassionate communication and support held so many through the toughest of times. We are so grateful that our three children had the experience of such a fantastic headmaster and feel so sad for the many that will, now, not have the privilege. A heartbreaking loss for all and especially, for your family and friends who are in our thoughts.
It was with total disbelief that I heard of the death of Adrian: my brain just could not process the devastating news. I was a colleague of his, during my time as a visiting piano teacher from the Haringey Music Service, up until March 2020 when I retired. Adrian was a remarkable Head Teacher and an absolutely lovely man. He was charismatic, calm, confident, compassionate, and utterly dedicated to the children in his care. I cannot imagine how his family will carry on without him, and my heart goes out to them. He was far too young to leave this world…
We were truly shocked when we heard the tragic news. Our two children thrived under his leadership and had a wonderful time at Rhodes Avenue. Our hearts go out to Adrian and his family and we will remember him always.
Mr Hall started at Churchfield Primary School when I was in reception, and I was lucky enough to have him as my head teacher up until year 6 when he also left. Our year group was special to him as he watched us grow up all the way from those tiny little children to those soon-to-be teenagers, and he was sad to see us go but he was so proud of us and we were so proud of him.
I remember the help he used to provide me with when I was struggling with maths, and he very kindly offered additional help to me and a few of my fellow pupils which took time out of his morning but he was so happy every time we walked into his office to start learning. I have never met someone so passionate for teaching and helping children reach their potential, and I am so thankful that I was able to cross paths with someone as amazing as Mr Hall.
It is clear from everybody’s comments here that you’ve been that person to many people over the course of your successful career! It is such a shame that you are no longer here because I just know you had so much more to give… I wish your family the best in everything they do, and you will be in my thoughts always…
Thank you, Mr Hall. ?
We are truly devastated to hear this awful news. Mr Hall had big shoes to fill as Head at Rhodes Avenue but he made the role his own and was an inspiring and kind person who we feel privileged to have known. Mr Hall, thank you for everything you did at RA – a school made even more remarkable under your leadership. Our deepest condolences to your family and friends x
My eldest son Jake is about to finish APS and now sitting his ‘A ‘ levels. He remembers, very fondly, the first time he met Adrian. Adrian came to Rhodes Avenue and held an assembly – as part of the interview process to potentially take over from Christine Whitam. These were very big shoes to fill and boy did he fill them! In this assembly Adrian talked fondly about his young son, Jaiden and shared pictures and stories that were inspirational. Needless to say he captivated the children immediately and they all ‘voted’ Adrian should be appointed Rhodes Avenue’s next new head – and of course he was.
He’s been a bold and brilliant headteacher always, but steering Rhodes Avenue and the entire community through one of the toughest periods many of us had ever faced, during Covid was another of his incredible accomplishments. Adrian showed special kindness toward my family during this difficult time. He extended support that was above and beyond anything expected and my children and I will be eternally grateful. I know what he did for us wasn’t unusual however and he showed this same level of commitment and support to so many others. It’s simply who he was.
His strong, fair minded and brilliant leadership, coupled with his genuine love and understanding of children and the power of supporting them through education and kindness made him an exceptional head teacher and outstanding human being. Thank you Adrian for everything you’ve done for my family and for every member of the Rhodes Avenue family and wider community, whose lives have been made richer because of you. We will miss you very much and send our love and deepest condolences to Daniel, Jaiden and Cynthia and all who knew and loved you. x
We still can’t quite come to terms with the fact that Mr Hall won’t be on the gate welcoming us all back on Monday. He was a wonderful head teacher; kind, principled, intelligent and witty. He was generous with his time and showed a genuine interest in every child. He leaves the world a better place than he found it and we are so grateful we had a chance to get to know him, even if it wasn’t for nearly long enough. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family.
The whole family is still trying to process what has happened. The sadness we feel cannot be expressed with words. We have been so lucky and privileged to have had Adrian as the head teacher for our three kids over the last 6 years. He made each and everyone of them feel special and they loved going to school every day. He was an inspiration for all and we are so glad we had the opportunity to know someone like him. We will miss him dearly. Our deepest condolences to his family.
You will always have a special place in our hearts Adrian and thank you so much for all you did for our children and for the community. We will miss you so much. Love. Jeremy, Max, Leo, Marc and Liz x
We were so lucky to have Adrian as a head teacher. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones at this time.
So shocked and sad about this terrible news. Adrian was a warm, loving man and a wonderful Head Teacher and he will be hugely missed. Sending all our love and support to the Adrian’s family and to the Rhodes community.
Such an incredibly inspiring and warm personality…thank you Adrian for making Rhodes Avenue Primary School what it is; both my kids have loved attending the school and that is down to your principles, vision and caring attitude. We will all miss you. Big love to your family.
Adrian’s kindness, caring nature, professionalism and dedication to all our children was tangible.
When I was worried because my 4-year-old didn’t want to go to school, Adrian assured me that he was happy there, saying, ‘he’s got this big, cheeky smile that lights up the room’. Adrian offered to go to my son’s classroom to check on him and even sent me videos to reassure me.
What an exceptionally great and lovely man. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.
A remarkable man and a mainstay of the local community. Kind, selfless and always there with an ear for quieter voices or a hand for those left behind. We are all devastated and can only offer our most heartfelt condolences to Adrian’s family. I hope they can take some solace in knowing how much he was loved.
It was a big shock to find out Adrian had died, esp as we had just come back from holiday. It’s strange because he seemed perfectly fine before half term and it’s very upsetting and surprising. So we will miss him very much.
Sending lots of love to his family and dog,
Love Molly (4JB) year 4
Adrian is hands down, the best primary school headteacher I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with. I used to joke that my role as a Rhodes Governor (2016-2019) was boring because everything we challenged him on, he was already on it! His legacy will continue at an amazing school with amazing teachers. A kind, compassionate headteacher whose vision for the school was exemplary. He will be missed, not only at Rhodes but in the local Muswell Hill community. My thoughts go to his friends and family as they navigate this difficult time. Ally Tansley
I had no personal connection with Rhodes but Adrian worked closely with our SLT at Earlham Primary School in Wood Green when I started there as an Assistant Head in 2017. His advice and support was always intelligent and considered. The fact that I only met him on very few occasions back then yet remember clearly his reassuring professionalism and personable manner, says much about the immediate impact he had on those around him. I send my condolences to the Rhodes community and his close family.
Deepest condolences to Mr Halls family, always remembered him for his huge smile and warm heart. He will be deeply missed.
R.I.P❤️
I am so deeply saddened to hear the news of Adrian’s death. He has touched the lives of so many young people; his kindness, selflessness and determination to bring out the best in everyone he met will live on in all of them. I worked with him at Churchfield and Houndsfield and he continues to be an inspiration to me all these years later. I send all my love to his family at this incredibly difficult time.
It is heart-warming to read all the lovely messages about Adrian, but not at all surprising. He truly was one in a million; such a charismatic leader, always demonstrating positivity, empathy and kindness. No wonder he touched so many hearts and minds. Our middle son, Will, started at Rhodes Avenue in year 1 the same year that Adrian took over as headteacher -and I remember well Adrian reassuring Will that “we will get to know this school together”. Our eldest son never went to Rhodes Avenue, but Adrian still greeted him by name when he volunteered at the chess club, and our daughter, Liv, in year 5 is so sad at Adrian’s loss, but also determined to remember the valuable lessons that he passed on. We will be forever grateful for Adrian’s warmth and guiding light. Our children could not have had a better role model. Thank you for everything Adrian. Our thoughts are with Daniel, Jaiden and Adrian’s wider family and friends at this saddest of times xx
Dearest Jaiden,
We all remember teachers who touched our lives in positive ways. Your dad influenced the lives of hundreds of children who will remember him with gratitude and honour.
Sending you lots of love.
We were deeply saddened and shocked to learn of Adrian’s untimely death. Having recently left the Rhodes community to relocate to Ireland, we are ever more cognisant of the amazing school our son was privileged enough to enjoy there for three years. We are forever grateful for the support you gave us while we were there and since leaving London. Love and light to your soul, Adrian, on its journey home. Your memory, care and dedication will stay with us here eternally. Love Grace, Paul, Callan and Ada x
Adrian was such a kind caring soul who you could see was so passionate about his job, he inspired and supported me from the day that he interviewed me when I was an NQT to even just recently. Thank you Adrian for all your help and for being the truly inspirational person that you were. From all the well wishes above it is evident that you touched the lives of people throughtout your time in education be they children or adults that you had worked with. My thoughts and wishes are with Jaiden and Daniel.
Sara xx
We’re so very fortunate to have had Adrian as our Headteacher. His time was far too short but the profound impact he has had on all our children’s lives will last a very long time, and for that we are so grateful.
Our sincere condolences to his husband Daniel, son Jaiden, mother Cynthia, extended family and friends, and to all the staff at Rhodes. May Adrian rest in peace.
There is not enough space for us to convey here how much respect, pride and admiration we had for Adrian. We are devastated by his loss and send heartfelt condolences to Daniel, Jaiden and Cynthia.
Adrian was unmatched in his ability to navigate and lead our community through very challenging circumstances. A calm and generous man, who had time for everyone, with a wonderful smile and sense of humour. He touched the lives of hundreds of families and a whole generation of children at Rhodes Avenue and his other schools have benefited from his guiding principles of acceptance and kindness, which they will carry with them throughout their lives. Our family is richer for knowing him & for that we will forever be thankful.
Mister Hall was such a nice guy and I’m so sorry for him to pass away. He was always so thoughtful and kind to me and helped make the school a better place. Every day when Adrian was at the school gate he said hello to me and that was always a good start to the day. I miss him.
I am no longer at rhodes avenue but I was so upset to hear about his passing. When he first arrived I remember thinking about how kind he was. Mr Hall was such a pure and smart man and his passing is very unfortunate. I remember being in school council and having meetings where he was so kind. I also remember when during orchestra my music fell off and he held my music for me. I wish the best for his family. Forever grateful for how much he did for the school. Rest in peace Adrian
This is devastating news. Adrian was so kind and compassionate when my son was having difficulties. I ended up in his office several times to talk about some really tough situations, and his caring attitude made all the difference. I’m sure he was busy with a million other things but he always made time when it was needed, I don’t know how he did it. It’s very obvious how proud of the school and the pupils he was. Thinking of his husband and son. Thank you Adrian for all you were and all you did.
Our thoughts are with the whole community of Rhodes Avenue and Adrian’s family at this very sad time. We want to thank the community of Rhodes Avenue for their support in our time of need. Adrian was a very well respected and kind person who will be greatly missed by all.
Adrian – thank you – for steering Rhodes through the recent turbulent times and making it a happy, colourful place where our kids were individually valued and encouraged. For all the time you spent talking with them, and us. We felt lucky to be part of the community.
You will be very much missed – I suspect we will still be looking for you at the school gates for a long while to come.
Remembering you now with much admiration and affection.
Sending love to Jaiden, Daniel, your mum
Adrian, I feel unbelievably lucky that both Stanley and Donnie received your support, guidance and love in their formative years; we are all richer for having known you. I will forever think of you and smile when I hear The Gap Band’s ‘Outstanding’…and thank you for always waving back. With love to you, all of your family and all the wonderful staff at Rhodes Avenue.
When I joined at Churchfield Adrian was the headmaster and it was a privilege to be part of his team. He was a true educator. He made sure creativity whether it was through Arts, DT, Languages or Music was part of the children’s lives. He believed in people and his inspiring, warm personality will be sorely missed.
Utterly shocked to hear this devastating news. Taken far too young. I was an LSA at Churchfield school and this is where I met Adrian. The way he has been described in all of the comments is spot on. He use to walk around the school with such positive energy. A memory I have of Adrian is when I was sitting in the library using scissors to cut out some pictures (there were quite a few) he walked passed, stopped, looked at me & asked why I was not using a guillotine. We then shared a giggle & I said I have no idea (feeling quite silly). He was a joker & made the effort to talk to all staff. Life is extremely cruel sometimes & he will be missed & never forgotten. My thoughts are with all of his family & friends xxx
Sending love and courage to the Rhodes Avenue Community, to Adrian’s family and friends. We are deeply saddened by this devastating news. Adrian was an inspiration to many and we enjoyed working with him as part of the community of schools in our local area.
Tony Woodward and staff at Tetherdown School xx
Adrian was an extraordinary head teacher and leader—firm yet fair, compassionate and always kind. What stood out was his well-rounded approach to the students and families at Rhodes Avenue, whether that was meeting educational needs or supporting families during times of crisis, his support never wavered. We were lucky to have him in our community and his legacy will be far reaching.
Adrian was a brilliant headteacher who has touched the lives of hundreds, possibly thousands of children. Deeply committed to our school and the children, and at all times a wonderful mix of professional, ambitious, playful and always positive. His absence is felt deeply by all around but the culture he created and embedded lives on. My eldest child was nervous to return to school after half term. We talked about what Adrian would say. He thought about it and said ‘he would say be brave and have fun’. What a way to have lived.
It was such shocking and sad news to hear such a talented, passionate and committed Headteacher has passed away. I didn’t know Adrian personally well but he was always a positive presence at so many Haringey Head events – and I admired him from afar.
I can only imagine what a huge loss he is to his family and the school community but know that he has left an amazing legacy through his work, that will continue to flourish inspired by him and in honour of him.
RIP Adrian.
Sending love to everyone at Rhodes Avenue and to his family.
I will not be able to attend the funeral but he will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.
Hina – Headteacher of Earlsmead School
From the moment we first met Adrian on a tour of the school, we instantly knew he was a brilliant head teacher and a wonderful man – and that was confirmed every time we encountered him subsequently, whether at the school gates, at a performance or via the emails he sent out to parents, especially during the pandemic. When our own parents came to watch a play or concert, they felt exactly the same. We are heartbroken at his death and will never forget what he gave to the school and to the wider community. “Leadership” is often ascribed to people who really don’t deserve it. Adrian was a true leader: warm, honest, charismatic, willing to do everything himself that he asked of others. Our sincere condolences to his family.
We were all shocked and saddened to hear the news of Adrian’s passing. Adrian joined Rhodes at the same time our children started in reception. A truly wonderful, positive, inspirational man with a kind soul.
He was a fantastic head teacher who took the time to get to know our children and we valued his opinion immensely. We will be forever thankful for the caring and happy environment Adrian provided and will remember him dearly.
Sending our condolences to Daniel, Jaiden, Cynthia and the school staff. A great loss to the school and the wider community. He will be dearly missed.
I worked with Adrian a long time ago, at Roseacre Primary School in Blackpool. He wasn’t far into his teaching career at the time but it was clear to see what a talent he was, and it does not surprise me one but to see all these amazing comments about him. He was always destined for great things in school, and in life.
I am more than devastated to read about his passing, and feel so utterly sad for his family, his colleagues and the children in his care. May he rest in peace. Lots of love Adrian xx
I am so sorry to learn of Adrian’s passing. As my professional mentor last year, Adrian was so kind and encouraging and our interactions always inspired me to do the best job I could do. I am incredibly grateful to have known Adrian and send my condolences to his family and the Rhodes community.
We were so sad to hear the devastating news. Adrian was an outstanding headteacher, and a kind and compassionate man. I think everyone felt safe and contained under his leadership through the turbulent times of Covid and beyond. We felt very lucky and grateful to have known him for the time we did. He was truly relatable and approachable as he welcomed all the children by name in the morning. A true leader, who clearly had a fantastic impact on our school. We will always be grateful for the positive influence he had on our three children’s time at Rhodes Avenue. Our thoughts are with his family and all the staff at Rhodes Avenue at this sad time xx
So sad to hear this terrible news. Mr Hall was an amazing head teacher. Such a sad loss. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
I am so sad to hear this news today.
I was lucky enough to work collaboratively with Adrian over the last few years and respected him as a fellow head in a neighbouring London borough. He always made me think outside the box, problem solve and be creative. He was supportive and always listened. He made me feel better about things when i felt swamped. He was upbeat and energetic, kind and caring.
He ran an amazing school and really cared about the children and staff/ parent community.
He had brilliant ideas and coached and mentored many incredible staff over the years.
What sad news and loss.
Thoughts are with you all
It is very bitter and sad when wonderful people pass away. That was Adrian Hall.. Huge grief for relatives and friends. The terrible news of his death was a big blow to his students. He was real. He had a talent for convincing and finding the right words. A man of extraordinary erudition. His openness, honesty and integrity in the people around him aroused boundless respect. He was a bright man with a kind heart. Adrian Hall helped Ukrainian children a lot in a difficult moment for them. Surrounded them with care and attention. He will remain in our memory as a talented director, a true friend and a deeply decent person. Eternal memory to him. Teachers don’t die. Their Souls continue to live!
I used to be a student under Mr. Hall and he was one of the kindest people in the world. I have been thinking about him lately and I remembered how he used to smile so much especially at the students and teachers. We love you Mr. Hall even in Oregon, you will be remembered.
I’m so deeply sorry to hear that Adrian has passed away. He was an inspiration and I feel lucky to work with him several times over the years.
He was a talented leader and an incredibly warm and giving human being.
My thoughts go to his family, his incredible school team, the community he served with dedication and passion, and also the wider Harringay community and family of schools, who I know held him in high regards and with deep fondness.
His incredibly legacy lives on and he will be missed.
With deepest sympathies.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Adrian. He was a true inspiration in education and always worked in the best interests of the pupils in his care. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with the school community and Adrian’s family.
I didn’t know Mr Hall, but I have read about him and from the comments and images and school reputation I can tell he was amazing and he was loved. My condolences go out to his family the school and everyone who generally loved him.
Impossibly hard to comprehend that such a wonderful man has gone. Adrian was the backbone of Rhodes and he has left such a seismic hole in our hearts.
I remember first meeting Adrian when we visited Rhodes on a tour of the school. As a mixed raced family, it meant alot to us when he mentioned that the children had completed projects about the great leaders of our time, with particular focus on Nelson Mandela. In that moment, we really felt like he was talking to us directly and telepathically enticing us to enrol our son into the school. l remember thinking, Mr Hall, you had us when you mentioned that the school keeps chickens on the premises! But highlighting the schools inclusion policy was such a wonderful touch and it made us feel wanted. I think that was one of Adrian’s many qualities, the ability to make children, and adults alike, feel seen and included, which is no easy feat.
Adrian you will never be forgotten and l feel honoured to have known you and to be part of the Rhodes community.
To Adrian’s husband, son and family, l would like to tell you how sorry l am that you have suffered such a great loss. There are really no words that can comfort you. But please know that we will continue to hold you up in prayer.
Thank you for believing in kids ..
it’s a tough world out there these days
You surrounded yourself with the best teachers, assistants, administrators and staff in general
Always surround yourself with greatness and passion, never be scared to learn from others.. they all bring so much to the table of life
Thank you for being a big strong man and supporting my son .. you will never know how much you and your wonderfully selected staff have helped him in the last few years .
You gave him one to one time, I am eternally grateful for what that meant to him, you were busy, but you’ll never know what a positive impact it has made ????
It is not over, but ‘I’ understand more to move forward.
I am a single mother and have realised how important, positive male influence is on my son .
You have left us now, but have not left without influence, which I did not realise my son needed.
You and your team have allowed me do understand how to move forward with a boy, ‘when I am a girl’, and have always been surrounded by women.
Thank you for giving me some tools to choose from in our lives ❤️
